After upgrading to Yosemite:

follow http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25970132/pg-tblspc-missing-after-installation-of-os-x-yosemite-beta to fix postgres

Additionally you also have to:

run xcode-select --install in the terminal otherwise you encounter PIL issues
