Failing to build Svelte with it as a Streaming Import. What am I doing wrong?

I'm following the Getting Started with Svelte tutorial.

I do the following:

npx create-snowpack-app svelte-snowpack --template @snowpack/app-template-minimal
cd svelte-snowpack
npm run start

At this point it works just fine. I can see the generated app in the browser.
I have snowpack as a dev dependency:

I add Svelte as a Streaming Import as I also follow instructions from the Streaming Imports tutorial:

npx snowpack add svelte

// snowpack.deps.json

    "svelte": "^3.32.3"
  },

I add App.svelte and reference it in index.js, as illustrated in the tutorial.
I add the Svelte plugin and run again:

// snowpack.config.js
plugins: [
  "@snowpack/plugin-svelte"
]

npm install @snowpack/plugin-svelte --save-dev
npm run start

I get:

Error: Cannot find module 'svelte/compiler'

I install Svelte as a dev dependency and run again:

npm i --save-dev svelte
npm run start

Now it works and I can see the app in the browser.
But if I run npm run build I get another error:

[snowpack] ! building source files...
[snowpack] ✔ build complete [0.12s]
[snowpack] ! building dependencies...
[snowpack] remote-pkg-cache:https:/pkg.snowpack.dev/-/svelte@v3.32.3-3KjGeG9TabC7fGSeKJyk/dist=es2020,mode=imports/optimized/svelte/internal.js
   Module "../common/global-5c50bad9.js" could not be resolved by Snowpack (Is it installed?).
[snowpack] Install failed.

What am I doing wrong? Did I misunderstand how Streaming Imports are used?
