Install pre−built FreeBSD 8 Hyper−V Integration Components using packages

Prerequisites

Before proceeding to install FreeBSD 9 Hyper-V Integration Components please refer the Prerequisites page and complete all steps.

Steps to install hyperv-ic from package

For x64 (64-bit) systems

  • Download the package file using curl
  • For FreeBSD-8.3
# curl -L https://github.com/FreeBSDonHyper-V/Hyperv-Ports/raw/hyperv-ic-master/BIS-1.0/FreeBSD-8.3/bin/hyperv-ic-x64.tbz -o hyperv-ic-x64.tbz
  • Execute pkg_add
# pkg_add hyperv-ic-x64.tbz
  • Reboot the system
# reboot

For i386 (32-bit) systems

  • Download the package file using curl
  • For FreeBSD-8.3
# curl -L https://github.com/FreeBSDonHyper-V/Hyperv-Ports/raw/hyperv-ic-master/BIS-1.0/FreeBSD-8.3/bin/hyperv-ic-i386.tbz -o hyperv-ic-i386.tbz
  • Execute pkg_add
# pkg_add hyperv-ic-i386.tbz
  • Reboot the system
# reboot

Post-install

Post installation and reboot all drivers should be operational.

You can now remove the legacy network adapter and use Hyper-V's virtual network adapter. You can also add SYNCDHCP setting in /etc/rc.conf.

ifconfig_hn0=”SYNCDHCP”

If everything is going well then you should observe the virtual machine's IP address in the Hyper-V management console.

### Uninstall
Hyper-V pre-built Integration Components can be uninstalled using the following steps:

* Execute pkg_delete <package name>
```
# pkg_delete hyperv-ic-1.0
```
* Reboot the system
```
# reboot
```
