I have a fairly complex setup. I am using VirtualBox with a Windows 10 host OS and several OEL (Oracle Enterprise Linux) Guest VM's built with the Red Hat kernel. From there I establish a VPN to my corporate network and connect to Windows machines (various OS versions... behavior is same) using Remmina 1.4.18 and freerdp 2.1.1-2.el7 on the Linux Guest. The copy/paste from the remote Windows machines the host Windows machine does not work.
To be specific... I copy some plain text to the shared clipboard in a Remmina RDP session which is connected to a remote Windows machine. I then attempt to paste from the shared clipboard to a text editor in the host Windows machine. Nothing happens. I can paste that text to a text editor in the Linux Guest. But I cannot paste to the Windows host.
If I copy text that is in a text editor on the Linux guest but NOT in the RDP window I can paste that text back to the Windows host. That is sourcing the Virtual Box shared clipboard. That works just fine. The only thing that does not work is from the RDP Remote Window to the Windows Host OS
I also tested using xfreerdp so that I could test the freerdp libraries without using Remmina. I get the same behavior.
I predict this is a very unique use case and will not get much traction in this forum. Totally understandable. However, if anyone else has experienced this type of problem and found a solution... I would love to hear it.
