Currently the audio overview is a bit disruptive to the gameplay and there aren't enough tracks for multiple columns atm.

I've been recently looking at some slick UX tricks and so I got a bit of inspiration from the multitude of awesome demos.
Clicking the audio button could actually reveal a sidebar to the right, which would have the player at the top, scrollable list of tracks and probably sound-fx volume slider at the bottom. The sidebar could be hidden again by clicking outside of it.

One of the transition effects over here could be used http://tympanus.net/Development/SidebarTransitions

I like most the transitions that push the content into the background as they make it more obvious that you can't interact with the gameplay unless you hide the sidebar again. The audio icon could have a colored frame when sidebar is opened.

More info and source code is available from the awesome website article http://tympanus.net/codrops/?p=16292

Scale & Rotate Pusher is probably the best effect, we should definitely go with that one I think.

This music player looks pretty much like what I had in mind, even more stylish actually and supports album artwork which is a nice feature as Moonthief composer tends to make one for each track even http://www.script-tutorials.com/demos/363/

I know the direction where to push this now! Will revamp it and have the brainstorm tag removed soon!
