Some of the ranged attacks could have the possibility to work even more axis then the current ranged attacks do. This would require some extra checks to see if the hexagons in between don't obstruct the path to the target unit.

A perfect candidate for extra freedom could be Dark Priests's Disruptor Beam, which has 1 extra range.
Animation wise, some of these units having an increased amount of targeting freedom might require extra sprites. Disruptor Beam for example would require animation sprites for 4 extra directions.
