Nice project but the sparse design needs some work:
Large pictures would need a mouse grab-&-scroll (or horizontal / vertical sliders) to move the picture around.
An independent control frame at the top would be needed for the click (or mouse-over) buttons to switch pictures regardless of picture position.
Also, a preview option (or back-to-edit) (or scrap-&-re-do) to test it before creation would help to save site resources.

I'm currently relying on the native scrollbars of the browser to handle moving around large pictures. Is this not working for you? What browser, os and screen size?
Having the selector be fixed could make navigation easier, but may cost a lot of screen real estate. Not sure what the trade-off there is.
While I'm not too concerned about wasting space, I agree that re-creating comparisons is a hassle. I've added a Preview button to the submission page to help with this. Thanks for the suggestion!
