TrafficKid edited this page Aug 17, 2021 · 2 revisions

Welcome to the Adobe Animate section of the Github wiki!

Introduction

The first thing I'm about to mention Is optional and can go either two ways You can either open an existing flash file (fla) from the Github repository previously mentioned or make a new one by going to the file tab when first opening adobe animate! (Top left corner) I recommend opening an existing fla though since making your own requires a bit of knowledge about the program

Symbols, Timelines and much more

Once your flash file loads fully you'll be greated to a wide selection of tools and tabs! I'll break It down for people who are confused

You'll timeline Is where you'll view your keyframes and Is usually where you can spot animation errors, this Is at the very bottom of your screen when you first get In

In the top right corner you'll see five options you can select and you'll usually only be using two or three (Properties, Color, Library) Go Into your library and you'll find something called symbols! Right click whatever you want to edit and press edit

You can edit and change whatever you want, once you figured out how to do the stuff listed above It's basic animation knowledge and a quick google search can help but If you can't figure something out JOIN THE DISCORD SERVER and ask In #help or @ me directly :)

Exporting your masterpiece

Wow! You finished quickly good job, now you may be wondering how do I export whatever the hell I just wasted my life on? In your library tab start looking for stuff you know Is In the game For example don't export the head and body, Export the idle Instead! This Is a tough thing to try and say what to do since It depends on what fla you opened or what the symbols are so just go with your gut!

Quick tip, If you opened an existing fla try looking at the xml for a quick reference on what to export

To export hold "shift" key and click all the symbols you want to export

And right click and press "Generate Sprite Sheet"

Export settings

Check trim and stack frames

Data format : Sparrow v2
