Note to Blizzard and gog.com staff: If you guys happen to see this, you're free to include these patches in your installers without any fees.

Patch #1: Fix stuck on downloading software update / failed to connect to battle.net issue

This patch is for both, Warcraft II and Diablo

.

Patch #2: Allow joining games without port forwarding

This patch is for both, Warcraft II and Diablo

  • Download bnet-join-game-fix.zip
  • Extract bnet-join-game-fix.zip into your Warcraft II / Diablo folder
  • Right click bnet-join-game-fix.ps1 and select Run with PowerShell

Note: You'll need admin rights if your game is installed inside of the "Program Files" folder. Workaround: Copy battle.snp and bnet-join-game-fix.ps1 to your desktop and run it from there, afterwards just copy battle.snp back into your game folder.

Patch #3: Game fails to start (uninitialized variable crash)

This patch is for Warcraft II.

The patch shouldn't be applied by the user because the game executable is signed, Blizzard/GOG should fix it.

See uninitialized-variable-crash-fix.ps1 and uninitialized-variable-crash-fix.ERR for more details

.

Patch #4: Fix broken battle.net UI / Improve compatibility with modern windows versions

This patch is for both, Warcraft II and Diablo

  • Download cnc-ddraw and extract it into your game folder

Failed to connect / Wrong Password / Muted (void channel) / CD-Key issues

All users that bought Warcraft II on battle.net ended up with the same CD-Key set in the registry. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional. Apparently the server was patched to allow multiple users to connect with the same key at the same time, so I'm assuming this is not a bug. The patch that was applied to the server seems to be incomplete, it's causing users to end up being muted or fail to connect (Wrong password) occasionally (Tested and confirmed by changing the CD-Key to a different one).

Blizzard needs to fix this issue, nothing we (the players) can do about it.

.

Random chat channel

The server sends you into a random chat channel making it impossible to meet and help newer players with their setup (e.g. port forwarding). We need a server-side update here, all users should be sent to the same chat channel.

Blizzard needs to fix this issue, nothing we (the players) can do about it.
