There are several mepo commands (e.g. checkout, fetch, develop, commit) that are of one of the two forms

mepo <command> [OPTIONS] repository [repository ...]
mepo <command> [OPTIONS] [repository [repository ...]]

For these commands, one should be able to execute

mepo <command> [OPTIONS] .

to indicate the current repository.
