Can you provide a clear description of your problem and some steps to reproduce it? I have no problem opening a file with spaces in the name here - either escaping (gaffer file\ with\ spaces.gfr) or quoting (gaffer "file with spaces.gfr") the spaces appears to work fine.

I wanted to give gaffer a try, but simply invoking ./bin/gaffer caused errors, because the path to the gaffer dir looked s.th. like /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Downloads/gaffer. — after moving it to a location without spaces in the path it worked.
