HP 14 is hot and battery drains quickly, even while sleeping #86
Comments
Hey guys, I was the one who reported this issue. Let me know if you have any further questions or potential solutions. |
The only thing I can think of would be to try upgrading the seabios or coreboot version. What coreboot or seabios are you using? |
SeaBIOS (version -2013094_092828-build70-m2) I'm not sure if that's exactly what you wanted, but that's what appears on the boot screen. But I have an update on the situation. It only stays active when it's just asleep. I set it to suspend and the temp was normal after ~20 minutes. Edit: Never mind, it's happening in sleep and suspend, unfortunately. |
The first thing to try would be to flash a new seabios. You can flash either John Leiws': https://johnlewis.ie/custom-chromebook-firmware/rom-download/ or Matt Devillier's :https://github.com/MattDevo/scripts. You don't need to remove the write protect screw, since you won't be flashing the fullrom. |
I have the same chromebook running Gallium. I am not seeing this issue. My seabios is MattDevo 20151015. |
On the HP Chromebook 14 (falco), I also have firmware available for it. HP Chromebook 14 [falco] Celeron 2955U (PCI ID 8086:0a06): |
I'm using the chromium version of SeaBIOS, so it should run better on the chromebook as it's known to be stable. (I've seen compatibility issues on the newer SeaBIOS's from John and Matt) |
Seems to have just...gone away. Weirdest thing... |
Very strange... If that's the case, I'm closing this. We can reopen if more cases pop up. |
