Defaults are no longer supported in ESLint 2.x. If defaults are going to be documented, it needs to be done some other way.
Previously rules were exported using the rulesConfiguration module. This was focused on providing an easy way to export rules along with their deprecated named counterparts and the no longer supported rule defaults. None of the above seem to be supported anymore, so the rulesConfiguration is no longer necessary.
