What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/git
   make
   make install
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Hi,

I am trying to install git manually, and getting exactly same error. 
My system has 32-bit centos(6.6) installed.

Could anyone give suggestion to solve this
