What steps will reproduce the problem?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
git version 1.7.9.5 on Ubuntu 12.04
Please provide any additional information below.
As workaround:
I've tried to create the tag manually, but it's not allowed.
$ git tag "11-07 D t-m" remotes/11-07%20D
fatal: '11-07 D t-m' is not a valid tag name.
I've tried:
