Please try removing the angle brackets from the macro. I will edit the wiki to make this clearer.

Can you post the agent configuration and the agent log file?

Looks like the script is timing out. How long does it take to return data when you run it by hand with the same parameters? When you are testing please make sure you run it as the same user running the zabbix agent.

if takes 1/2 seconds. the script works successful via bash console.

In that case I have no idea why it times out when being run in the zabbix agent context :( If you manage to fix the problem please let me know what was the cause.

in the delay section of every items why there is written “60” without unit?
it shouldn’t be 60s?

It is the same thing. If the number doesn't have units it is in seconds.

I encountered the same issue with the timeout and this is related to the configuration. In order to work the pinginterval and the agent timeout should be adjusted.

In the original example the script runs 40 secs long, while the agent timeout is set to 10 secs:

# time sudo -u zabbix /usr/local/bin/zaping.sh "google.it" "min" "5" "10"
real 0m40,095s

If pinginterval is set to 5 secs and timeout to 30 secs (the max value allowed), then the script will run 20 secs and it won't time out:

# time sudo -u zabbix /usr/local/bin/zaping.sh "google.it" "min" "5" "5"
real 0m20,073s
