I would love to see simple support for Documents, where the text version is downloaded.

That would be download only; I would rather have something like the google drive client for windows behaviour - google documents as links.

What, like a text file containing a URL?

Yes, something like that. So I could click on it, and the browser would open with the document in editing mode. That is how Google Drive for windows client does it, actually. It also has mime types assigned to those links, so they be displayed with custom Google documents icons. Those documents are meant to be edited online only, after all. Otherwise we would have to think what would happen once I change the document on my drive and try to sync it back... That would mean a whole lot more work for developer, formatting losses for the user, etc.

Issue #12 mentions that the Google Drive for Windows client stores the information in JSON
