Guake 0.5.0: Allow disabling of single keyboard shortcuts #376

My problem is that:

  • F9 gets in the way of htop
  • So I would like to have shortcut "Go to ninths tab" un-assigned (rather than blocking another key that I may need too)
  • The config GUI of 0.5.0 does not seem to allow unassigning hotkeys (I tried context menu, delete key, backspace, none worked)

My current workaround is
gconftool-2 --set /schemas/apps/guake/keybindings/local/switch_tab9 --type string ''
but in my eyes that's not cool and a way in the GUI is needed.

So if it is possible, please make it visible.
If it's not possible, please make it so.

Many thanks from an otherwise happy, frequent user of Guake.

Indeed it is a good feature

Someone pointed my to backspace, I tried again and it worked, not sure why not before. So it seems there is a way to disable the binding, it just could be more visible. Any ideas yet?

I was unable to "unset" a key so I think this is an improvement to do

I cannot reproduce on my second system, an ubuntu laptop. backspace works at disabling hotkey (is the default accel-clear hotkey, as defined in http://www.pygtk.org/pygtk2reference/class-gtkcellrendereraccel.html#signal-gtkcellrendereraccel--accel-cleared

Maybe it is linked to gnome keyboard configuration.

A note that backspace can be used to un-assign a hotkey somewhere in the dialog would be cool, still. What do you think?

That would be point "So if it is possible, please make it visible."

Do you mean adding a label to notify the user?

Something like that, yes.
