Not mention in the Release Notes is that Windows 8.1 has been deprecated, so I got an unpleasant surprise after updating. Not nice, especially since Microsoft still supports Windows 8.1:
Issue #3691: Until then, I will no longer recommend Handbrake. |

"The legacy preset side panel has been removed. The presets button on the toolbar will now offer a "preset manager" and list the available for selection." Major disappointment. Dropdown menus are very tedious to work with. There is plenty of screen space for the side panel to stay and it's much easier, not to mention faster, to use than this new menu. Please give us an option to re-enable the side panel. I will stay on 1.3.3 for now. |

Hi, does Handbrake 1.4 work on macOs 10.13? I am checking for new versions in HandBrake 1.33 and it says I am on the latest version. |

Is the PPA going to be updated? Or am I just too impatient? :) |

It appears flatpak packages can also be completely managed through the software store gui on Ubuntu. https://flatpak.org/setup/Ubuntu/ Follow those instructions, including adding the flathub repository and install HandBrake from the flathub repo. Everything should be automatic from there. |

Hi, We're using a software called PatchMyPC to keep some of our applications updated automatically, including HandBrake. Unfortunately, it seems that the update to version 1.4 does not include the install of Microsoft .NET 5.0 nor does it check for its presence before installing. The error message only says "you must install .NET", it does not mention whether it's .NET Framework, .NET Core, or the new .NET 5, so that's very confusing as well. When making such major changes like a different .NET version dependency please build it in such a way that the installer either installs the .NET dependency or at least checks before the installation to verify all dependencies are installed before continuing. Please also make the error message clearer than just "you must install .NET". Edit: To be sure this is not related to PatchMyPC in any way I uninstalled HandBrake and reinstalled it using the official download, and it behaves the same way. At no point during the installation does it ask to install .NET 5 or give a dependency warning. |
