<acquisition>
<p>Alþingi keypti handrita- og bókasafn Jóns Sigurðssonar árið <date when="1878">1878.</date> Safnið var afhent Landsbókasafni að
honum látnum, en hann lést 7. desember 1879. Það komst í hendur
safnsins árið <date when="1881">1881</date> er það var flutt í
Alþingishúsið.</p>
