Avatar randomly gets cropped and or swapped after changing it

Observed/problematic behavior

After changing my avatar, the website randomly switches between the old one the new one and a smaller version of the avatar
Also when applying the changed avatar it sometimes takes a cropped down version of the avatar

Expected behavior

Should only show the new avatar

Steps to reproduce

Change your avatar and reload while viewing the profile page
