Description and steps to reproduce [Required]

Turn on integrated graphics in BIOS (assumably required to enable Deep Link tech?) or else the integrated graphics (UHD 750) does not show up in Windows at all.
But if I do that, Intel Arc Control has it appear in the Adapter dropdown, but for Performance tab, I can no longer select A750. for driver updates, it shows the current version for the integrated graphics and doesn't seem to find new updates,

The only place (?) I can select between the two adapters:

Hi @jrymk thank you for posting your findings!

I can see you have the previous Beta driver so let me check with the latest driver and get back to you in case I need additional information

Talk to you soon

Hiii @jrymk
I went ahead and performed some experiments in my current PC (13900K + ARC 770 + GFX Driver v4255) so here's some info you might find interesting.

Just to clarify, to enable deep link technology between ARC Cards and Intel CPUs, there are some specifications you can see in this link, which basically states processors must have an integrated GPU and be 12th Gen or newer. Unfortunately, your processor doesn't meet the requirements for this and it is not necessary to enable the iGPU option within BIOS :)

Now, about the issue with ARC Control, probably it has to do with the BETA Driver itself.

So to discard, can you please test with the latest official release (v.4255). Here you have a video of how it looks for me and what it does when I click on "Checking for updates"

It is not required, but recommended, to perform the driver upgrade with DDU , specially when we start seeing issues.

However, if you keep on seeing any issues after DDU and using the latest official release, please let me know, I'm more than happy to help.

@Karen-Intel Before I test out the new drivers tomorrow, I want to first confirm the support of Deep Link Technology on 11th gen.
Indeed, on most Intel sites advertising the feature, "12th gen or newer" is stated, but here and the related article it says 11th to 13th gen.
I think it should work? It's just that the 11th gen stuff is removed for the newer Arc marketing material, maybe to sell more 12th and 13th gen CPUs? (I doubt) or to "recommend" newer CPUs for the best performance results (so it matches up their claims), or maybe the support is removed (which is unfortunate?)
May I confirm what Deep Link Technology actually does? When exporting a video with Premiere, the UHD750 has quite an encoding usage, while the A750 has barely any activity. This is probably not Deep Link though, but by enabling it in BIOS, I do get activity from the iGPU at least according to Windows task manager. For my workloads I'm pretty sure I will not benefit from Deep Link much, but I'm just trying to confirm.
Will get back to you after I test out the new drivers tomorrow 😉

Hi @jrymk
I see your point and I agree as we should have matching information in every support article.
I will find out if there's info to be updated for the support of the 11th Gen Processors, as in the main page we see support for 12th Gen up.

Now, about what it does, in the main website there are papers you can find with specific information for every applied field.
Here's one it is actually related to video encoding and decoding which may confirm what you're seeing in your system using the recommended apps.

Have fun!

Good news, 4255 seems to have fixed the issue.
Now there's just the issue of whether Deep Link with 11th gen is supported :)

Hey @jrymk that's just great!

I'm glad v.4255 fixed the issue for you. Aaaand I have good news about the Deep Link support too

As we thought, articles for Deep Link that do not include the legend for 11th Gen will be modified soon.
We have already raised the topic and we have also got confirmation Deep Link is supported on 11th Gen, deeply apologetic on that misunderstanding.

Thanks again for your patience! For the time being, I think we're ready to close this case

@IGCIT can you help us close this post? Latest driver version fixed the issue

Good day!

Unfortunately, after installing the latest 4314 WHQL drivers, this issue came back:
image

In fact, since I previously manually installed 4255, the update check in Arc Control never worked, despite Intel Driver & Support Assistant told me there are updates for my devices multiple times over several weeks. I had to manually update the driver by downloading the executable from the support page, and the problem originally mentioned in this issue is in fact not fixed.

No hardware changes have been made since, and all I've done is installed 4314 manually (didn't tick the fresh install button, but this should be an Arc Control user interface app issue so I doubt it'd make a difference).

Arc Control not picking up updates is also an issue I am having, regardless the driver shown on the "Drivers" tab in Arc Control is for Arc or UHD Graphics. Although I think the issue of deciding which driver Arc Control should pick up should be fixed first. I do have Intel Graphics Command Center for the UHD graphics installed too, and there's no reason for Arc Control to show drivers and options for it.

And... in the latest update it's good again.
I don't think the updates changed anything, but the manual driver install changes the preferred driver back and forth, although I can't confirm. Also, in-app driver updates never worked for me.

@jrymk hey again. Yeah, looks like we have an issue with the in-app driver updates but it is currently being worked on
We always recommend to go to the download page as it is what works best for us, but hopefully we will have in-app improvements as a whole soon. BTW would you like to keep this bug open or shall we close it one more time?

Thank you!

Well, the issue of Arc Control picking up integrated GPU drivers is, as far as I can tell, still not fixed.
Yes, it shows properly now on 31.0.101.4369, but that was also the case on 4255, but broken on the version after that, 4314.
It appears that it is "reinstalling drivers" that is changing what Arc Control shows, and I still feel like it is an issue that should be fixed for the Arc Control app.
I'm not sure if the issue is only for the top right box in the "Drivers" page, or if it also stops the app from updating the drivers (because it doesn't work for now anyway). Performance tuning seems to allow selection between the adaptors, but I'm not sure if that is the case when it picks up the other driver again.
Since it may (or may not) affect in-app driver updates, this issue may be more than just a visual thing, so I think it's better to leave this issue open, but that's up to you.

Hey @jrymk I think you're right. We're waiting for a few fixes in the next beta driver so let's keep this one open until that version is released and if it's not fixed, we will keep on pursuing it. Thank you for your patience!
