I'm not certain exactly what triggered this scenario, but the situation that occurred is that
self.current_outputis an attribute on the class thatselfis, and that attribute is set toNone.hasattrreturnsTruebecause there is an attribute onselfcalledcurrent_output, even though it isNone.
