I've used the settings: Quick entry / Part Of mode
PartOf mode doesn't work for me. Only the custom entry mode works.

KeePass Version: 2.41

  1. Created a database with the master key "hellohello".
  2. Set the settings as in your screenshot
  3. Closed the database in KeyPass and reopened it from the filemenu.
  4. QuickUnlock promts for the key
  5. Provided "hell" and the database doesn't gets unlocked (<<< "first quick unlock")

Exactly the same for me. I'm on Win 10 Pro 1709 x64. Originally, I wanted to create this issue, but obviously someone else has already encountered the same problem...

That helped, thank you. Changed the number of letters from the end of pw.
//UPD. Bah, doesn't work... after i restart keepass it says the QuickUnlock for a database is not available. I don't understand this: "The password you set in this entry will be the key you need to provide while unlocking the database." I've added an entry "QuickUnlock" but what do i need to write in password - a key path, a key name, a string from key file tagged in the key...

The password for quick unlocks is only present in KeePass process memory. If you restart KeePass the quick unlock key is not present in memory so it can't work. That's how it should work. QuickUnlock is only available to re-unlock a database. Otherwise it would just be a weaker version of the master key which is nothing you could want.

Thanks for the clarification. I read an article from which I learned about the plugin. it did not explain that the plugin is designed to quickly re-open the database. you are right, it also seemed to me that the possibility of a quick opening reduces security and there is no point in it. I was just embarrassed by having the choice of fastunlock when opening the database, I thought that this should work too, went to look for how to set it up and of course it did not work.

This is not the same as #41, as part of mode works exactly once.
And this is open since 2019. Will there be ever a fix?

Looks like @JanisEst isn‘t active anymore (on this repo). Any maintained forks?
