Issue Description

The navbar hover animation is quite rigid and can be made into a smoother transition.

Steps to Reproduce

Hover over the options in the navbar to notice the animation

Expected Behavior

It should transition into a smooth hover animation

Actual Behavior

Transitions to a very rigid hover animation
