We need a better api for subscribing to change events in the database.
Currently useDatabase gets on optional key for a particular item, but it would be better if it got a callback that received a change event and returned true/false if we should update on that event.
The catch is that we also want to be able to speicfy "run once " in case there were multiple changes to a table in a single transaction.
