GIF split icons cause Livesplit to lag

When I use a GIF as a split icon, the refresh rate of Livesplit slows down and becomes choppy over a period of about an hour, and continues to become worse as long as the program is running. The timer eventually only updates a few times per second after a long enough session. Timing remains accurate; the issue appears to be visual only, but it does affect the responsiveness of the settings menus as well.

Removing the GIF split icon eliminates this issue completely.
