I was looking for good examples here, which we could model this issue on, and found a few that I liked -- but mostly, "contribution guidelines" seem to refer to code contributions.

• Microsoft's instructions on "Get started writing docs" for PowerShell: short and concise, sending folks to style guides elsewhere (I don't think we'd really need to establish that for something small like alto2txt but perhaps could use a style guide from elsewhere)
• ReadTheDocs Documentation contribution guide: similarly short and sweet in terms of how to contribute, technically... Then, there's a longer style guide available.
• Mattermost's content contribution guide: Yet another example with very short, bullet-point material, linking elsewhere.

Happy to help think further about implementing this for alto2txt, which I think is an important code output for LwM!
