It is important to know when an axis value is resting at default; perhaps a color (green?) could help indicate this, and then turn blue once a non default value is set

I already show default status in the numeric controls (grey=default, green=not default), but you’re right it would also be very helpful in the visual mappings.

How about switching to a "bowtie" symbol (⧓ and ⧗) when it’s on the axis?

applying the numeric controls' color to the sliders would be good, and what i meant; not sure how it could work in mappings, where the origin shows this?
