Virtual Market 3 field trip

I propose that on Saturday September 21st we take a trip to Virtual Market 3 in VRChat. Year after year the Japanese VR community astounds the world with Virtual Market, a festival in VR where visitors can freely try on, watch, and purchase 3D avatars and 3D models displayed at the venue.

There is plenty we can discuss in terms of content discovery and marketplaces while browsing these worlds.

It's the biggest collaboration project to take place on VRC. Last spring they had over 400 individual made booths - so many that I didn't have a chance to view them all. This event is planning over 600 spaces!

The worlds are very large so it's restricted to PC users only. Unless you got a decent PC and 5ghz wifi connection for ALVR you won't be able to join the world via Quest. It's possible to watch the live-stream, perhaps even in a VR space with the stream if you're feeling fancy.

I'm thinking we meet on Saturday September 21st at 9pm EST for this field trip. Be sure to have VRChat installed and updated beforehand. VR headsets are not required but recommended.

Lets think of some good questions to ask as we explore for the write-up that will be produced after this event. Here's some ideas for questions:

• What are some interesting observations you made about a booth? (take screenshots!)
• How useful were the information bots within the worlds?
• What's the experience like of buying something?
• Would you be inclined to revisit the world if there were no other people?
• How would you rank an in-world shopping experience versus menus?

Here's the itinerary for the field trip. We'll probably spend around 20-30 minutes in each world which accounts for the 5 minutes it could take for some of us to download and appear. Afterwords, we will all gather or respawn and walk into a portal to the next world.
