issue about some content in this paper

Thank you very much for sharing your outstanding work. I am confused about some content in this paper. In the Theorem 2 of the Uncertainty Estimation part, "For arbitrary ..."

I am not sure what does the parameter ‘i’ mean, and how the equation is inferred.
