Producing screencasts without keystrokes is not nice, it would be awesome if ssr had this functionality, I've tried screenkey but it's too old for current Ubuntu user interface. If anyone knows a good tool to display keystrokes on Ubuntu I would be thankful.

This is possible, I could use XRecord (an X11 extension) or integrate it with GLInject (but that would only work with OpenGL recording). The hard part is actually putting it in the video. Text overlay is something that I've considered, but it would require compositing support which isn't finished yet. I will keep it in mind, but this will take a long time.
A simple well integrated, always on top, application that would popup text like KeyCastr would solve the issue without the need for composing. Of course, this solution woudn't work for recording fullscreen and OpenGL applications.
