This seems like it could be a page on googleAuthR or dartistics.com. Basically, the "use the defaults" is a great way to get folks up and running with GA quickly, but, if it's a project being put into "production," then googleAnalyticsR recommendation is to set up your own credentials.

The kicker is that the Developer Console has just enough options and buttons that it's not necessarily intuitive to set that up. And, since it's a "do it once" thing, a step-by-step guide would be useful.
