Description and To Reproduce
Ran the following protontricks command on Pop!_OS:

This seems to be a duplicate of #157, and it's a known issue with Proton versions 5 and newer, which broke .NET 4 support at one point.

The author of that issue managed to fix the issue by using Proton Experimental instead. Can you check if that works?

Sadly, Proton Experimental did not solve this problem for me.

Tried this myself and encountered the same status 67, this was on a steamdeck with protontricks 1.9.2

I'm using Proton Experimental, and I can't get dotnet40 to install either. It usually just exits with "User pressed cancel" because the installer can't move forward any further. I also tried installing it on my 64bit Wine prefix with winetricks, and it worked just fine, despite the same warnings about "dotnet40 does not fully work or install on wine".

Issue seems to persist - I'm trying to install dotnet20sp2 on Steam Deck and having this issue.

This reddit post claims using winetricks with the relevant wineprefix might do the trick. Worked for me.
