Repro Steps

  • Turn on narrator.
  • Launch Calculator app.
  • Navigate to "Open Navigation" button and activate it.
  • Verify that narrator stays silent.

Actual Result
Narrator stays silent on activating "Open navigation" button for the first time.

Expected Result
Narrator should not stay silent on activating "Open navigation" button for the first time.

The root cause of this is focus isn't being handled correctly with the navigation view control. I've filed the following with a minimal repro to WinUI: microsoft/microsoft-ui-xaml#569.

Thanks for investigating this, @EriWong! It appears that the linked bug has been approved and on their backlog, so goign to close this as external.
