[!INCLUDEarchive-banner]

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

The Document handling nodes are useful for attaching documents, files, or notes to BOM nodes and route nodes.

Note

This information applies only to Product builder.

  1. Click Product information management > Common > Product builder > Product models.

  2. Open a product model, and in the Product models form, click Product model.

  3. In the Product model form, on the Tree tab, in the Modeling tree, right-click a BOM node or a route node, point to New, and click Document handling.

A Document handling node appears as a subnode of the BOM node or route node that you selected.

  4. To insert a node into a particular position in the tree, drag it from the node list that is displayed on the left.

    [!NOTE]

The Document handling node form that opens resembles the Microsoft Dynamics AX standard document attachment form.

  5. In the File name field, specify the name of the document or file that you want to attach.

  6. Click Value or Variable to assign a fixed value or the value of a variable to the current document node field. If you assign a variable to one of the fields, the value of the variable is displayed during item configuration.

  7. In the Type field, select the type of the document that is being inserted.

  8. In the Description field, type a brief description of the document that is being inserted.

  9. In the Restriction field, specify the restriction type for the document.
