<Docs>
<summary>
Represents a <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> as a state-machine of <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" />s.
</summary>
<remarks>
<para>
A <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> is modeled as a state-machine and implemented as a directed graph whose nodes are represented as instances of <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" /> and whose edges are
represented by a single instance of <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegmentConnections" />. In other words, <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" />s represent states in the state-machine associated with this
<see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> (thus <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" /> and "state" are used interchangeably) while <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegmentConnections" /> represent the possible transitions between
the states of this <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" />. <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" /> object type will usually be either <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.HandPose" /> or <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.HandMotion" />.
</para>
<para>
In run-time, the state-machine is initialized to the <see cref="P:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture.IdleGestureSegment" /> state. When a descendant <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" /> of the current <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" /> is detected, the
state-machine will advance its current state to point at the corresponding <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" />. In order to trigger a <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> the user is required
to execute a series of <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.HandPose" />s and <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.HandMotion" />s that correspond to a path in the state machine which starts and ends with an <see cref="P:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture.IdleGestureSegment" />.
Such a path is called a "triggering path". When a triggering path is detected, the <see cref="E:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment.Triggered" /> event of the <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> will be raised.
The client code can subscribe to the <see cref="E:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment.Triggered" /> event and respond to the <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> detection.
</para>
<para>
When the user executes a complete gesture successfully, or starts advancing along a triggering path and fails to complete the gesture correctly, the state-machine will reset itself
(and start again from <see cref="P:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture.IdleGestureSegment" />). The state-machine reset is marked by raising of the <see cref="E:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture.IdleTriggered" /> event.
</para>
<para>
A <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> instance is mutable until it is registered with the gestures runtime, at which point it becomes frozen and cannot be modified any longer.
</para>
<para>
Note that a <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> is itself a <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.GestureSegment" /> and thus <see cref="T:Microsoft.Gestures.Gesture" /> instances can be nested.
</para>
