Support collaborative browsing #10
Comments
I've just heard of live-share for VS Code and I can't wait for it to be released. It would be awesome for open-source and live-streaming. Does live-share already supports multiple concurrent users, or is it just one-on-one? |
@endel We currently support 6 concurrent users in a session, but are keen to explore expanding that to support other use cases. |
Hey all! We just shipped experimental support for this in VS Code via the Browser Preview extension. If you and your guests install that, you can open up integrated preview windows and browse them entirely collaboratively. We'd love to hear any feedback on the experience and whether it suits your needs! |
I'm going to close this as resolved by the Browser Preview extension in VS Code. Additionally, we haven't heard any interest in this on the VS side, but we can always re-open this issue if we begin to hear feedback. Thanks! |
Where can we vote or let you know we are interested in a VS version of this extentsion? |
@FreeFrags Could you file a new issue to track that? Thanks! |
When working on a feature or bug with others it is often necessary to show another participant where a bug occurs in a given application by walking them through the scenario in the UI. While simply describing the location can be sufficient in many instances, allowing collaborators to start a "shared browsing" session could streamline this interaction.
A gesture would exist in tools that would allow a browser to start up on each collaborator's machine and clicks and navigation events would be synchronized across them. This provides a low-latency way to bring another participant to the right place in the application.
