AVEncCommonMultipassMode property

[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

Specifies the number of encoding passes that the encoder supports.

This property is read-only.

Data type

UINT32 (VT_UI4)

Property GUID

CODECAPI_AVEncCommonMultipassMode

Property value

This property is returned as a range of values. To get the supported range, call ICodecAPI::GetParameterRange.

Remarks

Decoding latency is defined as the amount of data the decoder must buffer. For example, setting this property to VARIANT_TRUE on an MPEG video encoder limits the types of GOP structures the encoder can use.

To set the current encoding pass, set the AVEncCommonPassStart property.
