[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Returns TRUE if a major type has been assigned to this object. Otherwise, returns FALSE.
By default, CMediaType objects are initialized with a major type of GUID_NULL. Call this method to determine whether the object has been correctly initialized.
