This how-to explains how you can use the Chromakey module to create a greenscreen effect in the OBS software. This effect allows you to selectively remove or make transparent, parts of the video or stream. You can then optionally show a secondary video feed in these areas.
Module Setup in VCV Rack
Add the Chromakey module to your patch and position it where you would like the greenscreen effect to be, you can use multiple instances of the module
Choose a colour for the module that is the least present on the screen, I find Magenta usually works
Turn on the Lock Colour and Bypass Room Brightness settings
Note: not all instances of the Chromakey module have to be used the same, you can add more instances and set them to different colours
OBS Setup
First you will need to have a source for VCV Rack, so add a Window Capture
If you want to replace the Chromakey module with a different feed, you will also need to setup a source for that content, in these screenshots I have a MidJourney image set as my alternative source
Make sure your alternative feed source is below the VCV Rack source in the menu
Now right-click on that VCV Rack source and select the Filters option
Add a filter of the type Chroma Key
You can fiddle with the settings to alter what gets removed and what stays, but the default settings for Magenta are pretty good
As soon as you apply the filter you should be able to see your second source through the areas removed by the Chromakey effect
Now just resize the secondary source as needed and you are ready to record or stream
