Changing themes causes background to remain black

When changing to a different theme (For instance, the default theme) the background of any song fades to black before the song begins, as it would while using the Transcendence theme. I'm not an expert with code, so I've got no idea where to start to fix this. I've tried playing with the settings in the game and none of them seem to change anything, so I assume it is a change that has been made inside of the game itself (or maybe a setting that I can't access)

Any helpful advice is gladly appreciated.

from the main menu go to options -> display options -> appearance options -> set brightness 100% or whichever you prefer

the theme by default sets bg brightness to 0 as this is the best setting for optimal gameplay (less visual noise/removes inconsistent contrast between note borders and the background)

i would personally advise against playing with bgs on however to each his own
