This is self-explanatory, but to help you understand the reasons why many would benefit:

  • For those who don't want traps, doors, tools, nuggets, etc from Base Metals.
  • For those who use lighter ore mods like Hardcore ORE.
  • For those who love to run texture packs. (I highly doubt that texture developers will make textures for the hundreds of items in Base Metals. And I think we can all agree that the textures in Base Metals are a bit low grade.)
  • For those who don't understand how to use Craftweaker, etc. (Also, it takes quite a while to remove all those pesky Base Metal item recipes with Craftweaker.)

I'm currently working on rewriting all of the advantage mods in a 3.x version, None of them will require base metals, but i don't know if it'd be very plausible to do in 2.x.

Also i see exactly where you're coming from, the reason i'm not requiring it in 3.x is mainly for the exact same reasons as you, some of the stuff i really just don't like, and the textures are horrible imo

That's great! I really love the mods from Cyano. You're awesome for doing this.

It's also worth noting that BMe 2.5 and onwards will be fully configurable so you'll be able to turn off all the bits you don't want which makes points 1,3 and 4 irrelevant.
