As far as I am aware the only way to find out the affinity of a component is to write a spell recipe with it and it tells you the breakdown on the last page. I know most of them are obvious from the name of the component, but some aren't.
It would be a nice feature if on hovering over components in the Occulus and the Inscription Table a tool tip would pop up with the affinity. And perhaps also have the affinity of each component in it's description in the Arcane Compendium.

For that matter, a completed spell scroll should show its affinities in its tooltip, and a spellbook should show the affinities of its currently-selected spell.
