Fellowship of groups

Fellowship (constellation) of groups is a list of groups that have common interface, community of users and moderators. Fellowship has a home page with a list of member groups, organized into some structure. But the groups themselves are independent nodes located at any provider.

May one group with several feeds be used for this? In what aspects a fellowship of groups may be superior in comparison to a single group with multiple feeds?

The original idea was to not store all eggs in one basket, i.e. to don't lose whole set of groups (and thus social connectivity of members, even if they aren't subscribed to each other personally) if node containing a group is "hit by bus".

On one hand it may be better to think about redundancy to address this (extra copies of each feed). On the other hand attacks on specific feeds may be justified based on content stored there while other feeds may still be out of question.
