When you log into MorphoSource next, you will likely find yourself asked to provide some new information. The new information will include asking you to select a User Profile Type that best describes you from among a number of different choices, such as "Faculty or Staff (University, Museum, and/or Library)," "Student (Post-Graduate)," "Artist," and others. After selecting a User Profile Type, you will then be asked to provide some new details for your user account, depending on the Profile Type chosen.
We have made these changes to improve the process of documenting and tracking downloads and re-use of media contributed to MorphoSource. Media are contributed to MorphoSource by other users, and these contributors often rely on measurements of "scholarly impact" relating to number of views or downloads of media in order to justify contributing media and making them available to the MorphoSource community. Contributors may include individual researchers, or they may represent entire museum or institutional collections of objects. Knowing the types of users who access media is a critical piece of information to help demonstrate the use and impact of contributed media, and directly helps both MorphoSource and data contributors. Any information you provide is strictly used for these purposes, and is never sold or shared with commercial interests.
Thank you for using MorphoSource!
