What will happen in your session?

This session will help build a digital collective in the Amazon rainforest region with the contribution of participants at Mozilla Festival. This will be done by hands-on projects and conversation online w/ tribes. The Amazon rainforest covers 9 countries in the northern South America and is indicated to be responsible for 50% of the oxygen of the world. So a group of activists, teachers and policymakers will be joined in this session to try and bring a digital collective to the "lung of the earth". The proposers of this session already articulate universities, schools and indigenous populations into a momentum to bring consciousness about the weight and value of Amazon voices to the world.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

Give voices and projects to people interested in the Amazon region to ally freedom, technology and consciousness about climate change is the goal of this session, achievable by building a digital collective in the region. This will be done via documenting conversations via video, social media, creating apps and art installations on the Amazon voices perspectives. Investing heavily in integrating onsite and online participation, proposers want to bring indigenous tribes of the Amazon to talk to participants via video and to give feedback on their projects and ideas on a section called "Conversations with Amazonian indigenous and local native population". The idea is Mozilla Festival participants can come to our session/lounge and talk to the population in scheduled times.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

We usually work w/ little to nothing so we need nothing. Whatever is given, though, we can use. It would be good to have a nice projector and a screen so people can see the Amazonians well. But we'll likely use mobile messaging too so if we don't have it, it's fine.

Time needed

All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session

@EPIKhub @Gilmarluis300 Thanks! Great to know you liked the proposal! There are so many cool ones here!
@sedgwickkm why was it removed from digital inclusion? do I have to add something on that regard?

Hi @renataaquino, I only removed the secondary space label as you were on the list of proposals twice for digital inclusion. We are still considering your session for the digital inclusion space as the primary space as we really like the idea of including such a different viewpoint. Sorry for not making this clearer!

@sedgwickkm that's super cool, many thanks from all. We are different, all right. Hopefully we'll hear more on the proposal soon, thanks again!

I'm seeking clarity on your stipend request. Your proposal has made it through to the next phase of consideration by the Digital Inclusion wrangler team. Unfortunately though, we've got way more seeking stipends than we have access to. If we were unable to give you access to a stipend, might you have other means available to you to make it to Mozfest? If you would like we can also have this conversation via email.
