Android version (Playstore) constantly crashes #543
Comments
Can you check the Android system log (lotcat) for more crash information? |
Can you extract this as text? There are important lines missing in your screenshot; some lines may not even contain the string "MPD" (but e.g. only the process/thread id). Copy everything before and after those |
Hi Max, thank you very much for looking into this! I tried my best to collect the relevant entries in the logcat (had to install another app for that), I hope that helps. At first filtering the log with "mpd":
Now filtering with "musicpd":
Now with filtering "2072" (PID)
|
please note that the android app tries to start the mpd twice (and then it crashes twice, too), so the log probaby contains many lines two times... |
P.S. the entries with "software.indi.android.mpd" refer to another, app, that's my mpd client. |
Hm, this backtrace isn't longer - i.e. I still can't see where it crashes. But I can see the type of crash (null pointer dereference in the standard C++ library, but not in MPD, for whatever reason) |
Hi Max, here is the tombstone_09:

Thanks, but unfortunately there isn't any more context. But on the other hand, I believe this is a compiler bug; it appears that the unwind tables are missing in the Android ARMv7 build; they are present on all other builds (Aarch64, x86), and my test hardware is Aarch64 ... |
Hi Max, that's really a pity... so it depends on the hardware, right? I have just finished a small field test (my colleagues have already left the office and there are some Andoid devices here that I can try). The problem occurs on: Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 Android 8.1.0 and MPD runs on: Nexus 9 Android 7.1.1 So it is obviously a problem not only for me, and actually some reviews on the Play store point in the same direction. If you have an idea for a solution, I am always ready for doing some tests. |
I'm sure I'll find a workaround. |
Would be great! I'm ready for testing. Good luck! |
I have uploaded a pre-release build with the fix to Play store. |
And it works!!! Thank you so much - great support! |
Hi all, I am trying hard to get the current version from the PlayStore to run (0.21.7) but,no matter what I try, it says
D/ config_file: loading file /storage/emulated/0/mpd.conf
and then it crashes ("MPD process was killed").
Testing with and without a mpd.conf gives the same result (obviously the "loading file" message comes only when testing with mpd.conf)
I have tried on Android 5.1.1 (Galaxy Note 1) and Android 6.0.1 (Galaxy Note 4)
Both devices are rooted.
An older Version of the MPD (installed directly with APK) runs well (0.19.9).
All paths should be correct,
audio_output type "sles" has been set.
Is there something else that must be set specifically for Android in the mpd.conf (and that is new from the 0.19 version)?
Or are the Android versions of my devices already too old for the current Android build?
