The difference of the line is completely gone.

Ah yes, I noticed this issue too. It's the same issue for both dark & light. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any way to get around this because once the cursor line background is enabled, it takes precedence no matter what.

I noticed that the colour scheme gruvbox as well as some of the builtin schemes, e.g. blue and default, do not suffer from this problem.

Analogous to #147, vimdiff colours work out well for Vim 8.2 and NeoVim 0.3.8.
