configure.ac info needs to be update for release 2022.01 ?

The existing configure.ac info needs to be update for release 2022.01 . At least the
code-release-version (entry [2.20.0]) in the current settings (see below) should be changed to [2022.01].
Note the code-release-version appears on the provenance info printed in the nc files created by the various tools.
Should any other setting in this file be changed now.
current settings are:
